First Step of Homeschooling

Figure out your why. Why do you want to homeschool? Is it because of your faith – special needs – an emphasis on unschooling – focusing on special interests like ballet, cooking, acting, or a sport – so you can travel – provide a better education – independence – to catch up? Find those reasons! Sit down and make a list of all the reasons you think homeschooling is the better option. Then out of those reasons pick 2 or 3 that are the most important to your family. Then write those reasons out in a paragraph form and create your Homeschool Mission Statement. Your Mission Statement is your answer to the “Why” question! Your Mission Statement will be an invaluable tool to turn back to when days aren’t going as you’d hoped. It can reset your heart and serve to remind you why you chose to go on this journey in the first place. It gives you hope and it gives you clarity! Find your WHY ❤️

It is with heavy hearts to announce that after much prayer and consideration, the Board has decided to forego our weekly community days for the 2020-2021 school year.

We are, however, gearing-up for more social media content in hopes to still provide support and encouragement for current and new homeschooling families. Be on the lookout for more content.

We know this is a strange time to be living in but we turn to Truth and find comfort in knowing that God is for us. He will never leave us. Please join us as we pray for our community, city, state, and country.

“Now this is what the Lord says--the one who created you, Jacob, and the one who formed you, Israel--"Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are mine. I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. Hey New Homeschooling Mamas(and Papas)

How are you? Are you navigating through the maze of homeschool ok? I know there is a LOT of information being thrown at you right now. Everyone has the perfect way to do this, or to do that. Their curriculum is the MUST HAVE of all curricula. This schedule works great for their family and they teach all of THESE subjects, etcetera. But take heart, dear one, you don’t have to have it all together right now.

When my husband and I first considered homeschooling we were overwhelmed to say the least. Since then I have tried so many different curriculums and several different schedules. I’ve tried to fit in ALL the subjects in a day and then I’ve done just the bare minimum to say we “home schooled”. There is no one size fits all. That’s what makes homeschooling so amazing! You do what works best for YOU and YOUR FAMILY. And that will take some trial and error.

Over the next couple of weeks we will be posting books recs, tips and tricks, hacks, curriculum highlights, and general encouragement to get all of you geared up and ready for the #startofschool . All of this comes from mamas who homeschool completely differently!

In times like this it is sooooooo important to turn to scripture.

•Remind yourself that you CAN DO HARD THINGS. My favorite verse for that is 2 Timothy 1:7 - “For God gave us a spirit not of fear, but of power and love and self-control.”

•Also, on those hard days, remind yourself that in your weakness God IS GLORIFIED. 2 Corinthians 12:9 “My Grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness...”

You’ve got this, and when you don’t God does 🙌

In the midst of this pandemic, let us be reminded

In the midst of this pandemic, let us be reminded to pray over our community. Pray for your family, for your friends, for their friends, for our leaders, for our medical personnel, for our grocery store workers, for everyone who is being affected by COVID-19. Pray for families who are suddenly thrust into home schooling their children, for business owners who don’t know if their businesses will reopen, for those who have lost loved ones to the pandemic, for OUR COMMUNITY.
